Ross Macdonald was a pseudonym for Kenneth Millar, who is often included in the “holy trinity of detective fiction” along with Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. His most famous character was Lew Archer, the tough-but-sensitive private detective introduced in the 1946 short story “Find the Woman.”
But before Lew Archer's first outing in a full-length novel (The Moving Target in 1949), Macdonald wrote and released two novels under his real name, Kenneth Millar: The Dark Tunnel (1944) and Trouble Follows Me (1946).
